Tranquility

by Cleveland Wehle
(June 04, 2009) - Both majestic and soothlingly introspective, Cleveland Wehle's magnificent album Tranquility can only be described as a masterpiece of light ambience. The music on this exquisite release is restful and smooth, suitable for all kinds of listening, whether for meditation, work listening, sleep listening, or sheer listening enjoyment. Highly highly recommended.

Kyzyl to Samarkand

by Sara Ayers and Ryuta.K
(April 30, 2009) - One of the most profound and hardest-hitting ambient releases of 2008 was this dark and ethereal collaboration by two of the genre's greatest voices, vocal ambient artist Sara Ayers and dark ambient artist Ryuta.K. And what a stunning release it is. It just doesn't get any better than this, and we are proud to feature an album with such a distinctive artistic vision. Simply some of the most beautiful, foreboding ambient music we have ever heard.

This Road Is Glowing

by Saul Stokes
(March 27, 2009) - One of our favorite artists of all time, Saul Stokes is legendary in the synthesizer music community for his distinctive sound and exquisite compositional taste. With This Road Is Glowing, Saul has delivered a delightful collection of three ambient electronic tracks that are among our favorite tracks of all time. Our highest recommendation.

The Blue Flower

by Emerald Adrift
(February 24, 2009) - Few artists can create music using both sides of their brain, and yet Emerald Adrift makes it look easy. With his debut album, The Blue Flower, this gifted artist has created an exotic fusion between so many genres we don't have space to list them all. Suffice it to say that this is mellow electronic music that will appeal to the purist and layperson alike. An amazing, amazing release.

If Dreams Were Clouds

by Mark Mahoney
(January 18, 2009) - The debut solo album by electronic ambient maestro Mark Mahoney, this release is the kind of music that both soothes and inspires, both illuminates and challenges. We recommend all of our listeners check out this fine album by one of the premier ambient artists of our time.

Storm

by Normal
(December 16, 2008) - Luscious dark ambient goodness, with a liberal dose of soundscaping and occasional tonality, this is an album for stormy winter nights. The first release by Normal in quite some time, we were blown away by the depth and power of his music, as well as his trademark attention to detail. Highly recommended.

Samadhi

by SaReGaMa
(November 14, 2008) - A delicious combination of world fusion and lush ambience, Samadhi is simply a wonderful collection of music. We challenge you to download this music and not be drawn in by its irresistable charm and consummate musicianship. A marvelous album by a superb artist.

The Barometric Sun

by Deepspace
(October 09, 2008) - Lush, exquisite, flawless, refined, striking, beautiful ... we could go on and on with adjectives to describe the music of Deepspace. One of our favorite discoveries in the past year, this is an artist to keep a close eye on - and one we encourage all our listeners to visit right away.

Urbanisation

by Aairria
(September 12, 2008) - We love it when we come across an artist we are unfamiliar with who creates stunning and inventive ambient music. Aairria is such an artist, and their new release on the superb Rain netlabel does not disappoint. We'd go so far as to call this album eloquent, refreshing, and downright brilliant. Best of all, it's free under Creative Commons, so grab your copy today.

Milieu LP

by Milieu
(August 12, 2008) - We have long been fans of the ambient music of Milieu, but the artist's self-titled Milieu LP transcends even our high expectations. Put simply, this is a stunning example of sublime ambient music, composed using a bare minimum of instruments and tools. Unlike so much ambient where the sound design is the primary payload, the sheer musicality and freshness of this album leaves us wanting MORE. Highly recommended.

Strange Skies

by M. Persson
(July 14, 2008) - Every now and then we stumble across a new release by an unfamiliar artist that just blows us away. Such was the case with M. Persson's magnificent Strange Skies. It's been awhile since we've encountered an album of such simultaneous power and delicacy, and to discover it out of the blue is a real treat. We think this album is a gem, and encourage our listeners to check it out today.

All Points North

by Manitou
(June 15, 2008) - One of the most haunting ambient albums we've encountered, Manitou's All Points North is a textbook example of dark, textural ambient that is very approachable and enjoyable, even upon first listen. This is one of the deepest pure ambient albums we've encountered, and couldn't be happier to recommend it to our listeners.

Hell's Canyon

by John DuVal
(May 13, 2008) - One of the quintessential abstract modular-synth epics of all time, John DuVal's Hell's Canyon is a dizzying and thoroughly satisfying journey through the depths of the abyss. If that weren't enough, it is performed by one of the all time masters of the genre. Not to be missed!

Heart of the Tundra

by Deep Chill Network
(April 16, 2008) - A truly classic ambient release that, despite its chilly subject matter, is a lush and comforting journey, replete with gusts of wind, murmurs, rumbles, and tons of icy Deep Chill Network goodness. Don't miss this album folks, it's a gem.

Monodia

by austere
(March 18, 2008) - Strongly evoking the dark ambience of such artists as Lustmord or Oophoi, this sublime album is theme music for your next nightmare. Described as "the perfect soundtrack for a stormy night", this is one album we feel you must check out.

Seeking Ganesha

by Lucette Bourdin
(February 25, 2008) - Beautiful exotic ambient performed by one of the most consistently great ambient artists around, Seeking Ganesha is one of our favorite releases. Best of all, it is free to download and enjoy. Strongly recommended!

Sounds from beyond the Silver Wheel

By Dark Muse
(February 05, 2008) - Hauntingly beautiful vocals mixed with otherworldly ambience is what Dark Muse is all about. Melancholy and yet hopeful, this beautiful album is the kind of music to listen by candlelight on a dark and stormy night.

Drawn

By Northern
(January 12, 2008) - A brilliant release from Infraction Records, the debut album by Northern creates ambience that is immediately alluring but also has depth enough for many replays. Mature ambient music from Canada!

Regenesis

By IXOHOXI
(December 26, 2007) - One of the great pure ambient albums available by anyone, Regenesis is a tour-de-force. Straddling the realms of progressive and standard ambient music, we think you should check this album out immediately.
